It's not easy being green

Well,

We have been taking turns here getting sick and passing it around. Strep, colds, you name it. Probably the only one here in a constant good mood is baby. We are always getting comments on how friendly and jolly Corbin is. He will wave and sometimes flirt with strangers, especially the ladies.

We worry and wonder every day whether we can make his life one of security, happiness, curiosity, and adventure. Quite a task to live up to when one considers our own challenges from day to day.

Other news (besides baby updates):

We are lining up a landscaper to rework the beds around the house and to prep the area that is soon to be a vegetable garden (pull up the sod, till the soil). Also in the works is a sand box and posts for a clothesline (shh don't tell the township trustees). I jokingly told my neighbor that the area we marked off was for the chicken coop we were going to put in >:)

Aiden stealthily grabbed a chicken bone the other day (my fault for leaving in range) and I have been appropriately punished by dog "sickness" from both ends.

Work goes well for both of us. Given the state of the economy, we really can't complain.

For those who we haven't socialized with or spoken to much lately, we are sorry. Between illnesses and projects, and adapting to our new schedule for Corbin, we are a bit trapped in our own universe. But we will come out of hiding eventually!

Now for baby pic:

Earth Day at the Zoo

Saturday was Earth Day at the zoo. Jean, her mom, Corbin and I packed up for a trip out into the beautiful Ohio weather (which is one day per year). Corbin had a good time. He found the flamingos fascinating, but not as much as the people. I sometimes think the people strolling around the zoo are more odd than the animals in the exhibits.

Corbin had his first carousel ride. Although he looks a little unsure here, once things got going he was really into it. The zoo personnel running the ride got a kick out of him waving his arms around as he made each pass.

But I think the real highlight of the day was saving a painted tutle from being squashed on the back roads of Pickerington. Jean spotted him and I moved him to the side of the road. I got hissed at for my troubles. I suppose he thought he could make it fine on his own.

Baby goes ballistic

So, as usual this time of year, parents take little ones to see the Easter bunny at the mall. We gathered up our little one with the optimism of first time parents. Corbin has not had any problem with strangers, Santa Claus, etc., so we had reason to be hopeful.

Corbin bebopped along through the hour wait, all smiles, flirting with the ladies in line. We began to pat ourselves on the back for making a great a experience for baby...until:

Poor Easter bunny. He tried so hard, but Corbin was having none of it. Ah well, we accepted it, knowing that not every holiday photo was going to go well. Little did we know, Corbin was to express his unhappiness by, yes, projectile vomiting on himself, me, Jean, the floor....thankfully not the bunny.

Sunday turned out to be better:

Corbin likes his books especially. Mom and Dad had to help him with the chocolate, but we are willing to make that sacrifice :)

DlogBlogBlogDog under temporary new management

As Jean does not have time to get to the blog these days (which is a dissapointment to her), I am temporarily stepping in to carry the banner of endless cute baby pictures. I cannot commit to providing the quality of story telling of my wife, but I will try to supply updates and insights.

More to come!

Meanwhile, Corbin had his first Easter experience. I think the crowd of Easter egg hunters was a bit much for him to take in:

Hmmm, these ears don't seem to help me find the eggs!
